Sighting

The Brown Pelican was still at Tinemaha Reservoir on 7 July at 1PM. Amazingly, it was by itself on the close shore about 200 yards north of the west end of the dam. It had moved from where Tom and Jo had it earlier in the day out on an island with American White Pelicans. We first watched it from the lower overlook. We then drove down to the lower road and parked at the southern turnout where we got some digicoped shots. The bird does not appear to be in good health. On land it staggered around and had to catch itself from falling over in wind gusts.
