Yesterday's ESAS Owens Lake field trip was a great success. Mike Prather led us to southern and western parts of the lake. The first stop was Dirty Socks pond: highlights included Green Heron, Pied-billed Grebe, Long-billed Curlew, Solitary Sandpiper, White-faced Ibis. Next Stop Dirty Socks Habitat Shallow Flooding area: juvenile Sanderling, Baird's Sandpiper, 70+ Snowy Plover. Next Stop Cartago Marsh: another Baird's. Cottowood Marsh: Long-billed Curlew.
