Yesterday (8 Dec) I saw 6 Orange-crowned Warblers, 5 of which were eating grapes. All appeared to be the bright lutescens race. Those old, withered, unattended grapevines are certainly appreciated by warblers these days. Roses, too.
Also, this morning there were 25 Mourning Doves at the intersection of Hanby and Yaney. Someone puts lots of seed out at the entrance to the trailer park there. I think Mourning Doves are considered rare in the Owens Valley in winter.
