Jon got a brief look at the gull on Thursday, and I was able to refind it, and get better looks and some photos on Sat 10/22. This juvenile bird was between Layton Springs and the Owens River, with the group of gulls closest to the river mouth. The primaries were the same color as the rest of the wing. In flight, the entire upper surface of the wing was uniform in color. The Red Phalarope, also seen by Jon, was still present on 10/22. It was with the same group of gulls. A whopping 160 dowitchers were close by.
