Busily going over a wild fiddleneck in our yard, a Lincoln's sparrow ignored us as we watched from three feet away through the window. It's buffy malars and finely streaked buffy chest were evident. The streaks gather in a little spot in the middle of its chest, as shown in Sibley. It was scratching in the dead willow leaves last week. A lesser goldfinch tried to share the fiddleneck, but the Lincoln's chased it away. Also we have the usual crowd of yellow and Wilson's warblers.
