Seen at eight meters, eating a flying ant. Larger bill than Hammond's, with more orange below. Smaller than a Gray, dusky-olive in color, not gray. Large white section in lores area, a messy eyering unlike porthole around a Gray's eye. Weak whits, unlike Hammond's or Gray. Not yellow like a Western. Song Sparrows are on eggs, as are Red-tailed Hawks. Common Ravens and Verdin are building nests, and I bet Bewick's Wrens are building too. Some Phainopepla nests have chicks, but a few have eggs. Still no female cowbirds yet. Last year, they arrived on the 19th. Crissal Thrashers elusive but everywhere.
