Sighting

This morning (4 Jun), we observed a BROWN THRASHER at Deep Springs College. When we first saw it, it was flying low over the reservoir, landing not far from us. In flight it had bright rich rusty upperparts with a long tail. Foraging on the ground in weeds and willows, we could see its yellow eye, heavy streaking below, curved bill, and white wingbars. All three of us had just been to Texas and observed them there, but for two of us, it was our first time observing this species in California. Also of note were two continuing AMERICAN CROWS by pig pen.
