Sighting

Today on the Mono Basin Chautauqua, we went on the "Big Day" led by David Wimpfheimer and Susan Colletta. At Grant Lake we eventually had very good, although somewhat distant views of a breeding plumage Red-throated Loon. The bird was mostly on the far shore between the dam and a peninsula used as a fishing access along the paved road. This is apparently the same bird which was seen in this location yesterday, but which was initially thought to be a Pacific Loon.
