Yesterday and today over 100 Swallows, mostly Trees, have been flying over the new "overflow" huge pond off of Riverside Rd north of Dixon Lane. They seem to take baths in flight and then sit on trees and preen. There are mostly juvenile Tree swallows, many fewer adults, juvenile Bank Swallows, some adults, many fewer Cliff swallows, and fewest of all are Violet-green Swallows. If you want to do some swallow study, this is the place, a scope is very helpful. Drive thru the gate by the corral and watch from bank of pond. Very lovely spot right now but hot midday.
