What a great day for a hike. Temperature in the 50s, sunny, not too much wind and a beautiful location. Took a loop hike from Saddlebag Lake to Greenstone, Wasco, Steelhead, Shamrock, Helen, Odell and Hummingbird Lakes. But the highlight of the day occurred right at the beginning where in the parking area near Saddlebag Lake I saw a White-headed Woodpecker male moving from tree to tree and making his call. Identification marks were his distinctive woodpecker like call, white face, red on the back of the head and a white patch on the wing.
