Sighting

Today a group of us visited the Bishop City Park and enjoyed the ducks in their bright plumage including American Widgeon,Redhead,Ring-necked,Lesser Scaup and Gadwall. Also at the park was a dull, probably first of fall female Red-naped Sapsucker which we saw fairly well and were able to study, making sure it wasn't a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. (It had a red crown, black at the rear and then a fuzzy reddish nape. The chin was white, not framed, with red below.)We also had a female Slate-colored Junco and Downy Woodpeckers. Then we visited the White-throated Sparrow at Larry & Carolyn's and greatly enjoyed its call notes and song! "Sam Peabody...Peabody......".
