Thanks to Chris Howard for coming out to Sunland Indain Res. Rd. yesterday afternoon to help indentify the dark Red-Tailed. It is probably not a Harlan's--lacks the white shoulder spoltches and other finer details, but it is surely a very dark morph. It was in the same general area as my first posting, so if you get a chance to go out in the afternoon, this is a raptor worth looking at. Beautiful plummage--almost bronze in color. Thanks Chris!
