Sighting

On 10 Jan there were 8 Hooded Mergansers at Klondike Lake; 2 alternate plumaged males with 6 ladies. This species becomes quite rare after the first week of Jan. One adult Bald Eagle was at the north end of Tinemaha Reservoir and an immature Merlin was on Steward Lane. While Merlin are rare in winter they are regular in very small numbers and most birds are 'columbarius' the expected race, as was this one.
