I had the Merlin again north of Nik's ponds today. I'm thinking it's a female Columbarius race as the color of the wings and back are dark brownish-black not bluish-black as in a male. Today it was flying very high up and zipping around lightening-fast, unlike a Kestrel. Is the Laws bird a male or female?
