Sighting

Sorry, I forgot to post this earlier. Last weekend (3/17/07), we had an adult male "Slate-colored" Dark-eyed Junco feeding on the ground with about ten other juncos below the feeders on Iris Drive in Aspendale. This male had a darker hood than its grayer back and flanks, making it from the Canadian Rocky Mountains population. Another interest bird we saw last weekend that I forgot to mention in my earlier post was a Greater Roadrunner, seen on a rock at a trailhead parking lot about 1/4 mile past the Whitmore Hot Springs north of Crowley lake, the same area that we had a flock of about 45 Pinyon Jays.
