This afternoon, 27 Mar, Jon Dunn and Andy Zdon found a male Eurasian Green-winged Teal at Farmer's Pond. It was in the north-west, muddy fringe of the dwindling pond alongside a dozen or so American Green-winged Teal, another dozen Cinnamon Teal, Mallard and Gadwall. Jon said the Eurasian is not paired up with a mate and it is missing one foot; it hobbles when trying to walk. Jon thought it might be 99% A. c. crecca; the right side shows a faint, pale vertical stripe at the shoulder (see second photo). Neat bird, and perhaps the first A. c. crecca for the Eastern Sierra.
