On 20 Apr Mike found a White-tailed Kite about 1/4 mile northwest of the junction of Hwy 395 & 168, just north of Big Pine. He called Jo who went out and photographed the bird. It would hover near Hwy 395 until Jo pulled to the edge of the road then it would fly about a hundred yards west and perch in the highest twigs in the willows. This is a casual vagrant to Inyo County that attempted breeding in Fort Independence and Bishop 1995 & 1996.
