The RBGrosbeak is a beauty. I live in Mammoth and what we have seen this May are two mated/breeding BHGrosbeaks in a special birding spot by Mammoth Creek. A pair was in the same vicinity last year this time. Later in the summer they nested and fledged two babies. A surprise visit to my home (elevation 8200 feet) was a female pine grosbeak. It was in the early morning and there were two of them. They were tearing off the early budding leaves from my aspen trees and devouring them. I haven't seen them since so I guess they have moved to another spot.
