Sighting

Not rare but interesting in that this is the first golden-crowned kinglet I've seen in the Glass, and it was in 1 year old coyote willow sprouting along the Wet Fork of Black Canyon in the northeast Glass Mtns in a mixed foraging flock with White-crowns and juncos. Shoulder high stump-sprouting willows line the thin trace of the creek through the black moonscape of last year's Sawmill-Ghost Fire. Snipe was hunkered down in the same young willows. Cool to see a marsh bird in a burn and great to see riparian regeneration so vigorous in the absence of cattle.
