Sighting

In an attempt to beat the heat and humidity, I headed up into the Sierras, specifically Hidden Lake in the Cottonwood Lakes area. My hilite was two species of ducks – a mallard with six ducklings, and a male Ring-necked Duck at Hidden Lake app 10850’ in elevation. The mallards didn’t surprise me, but the RN Duck was a different story. I don’t ever recall seeing them in the mountains.
