I've been seeing turtle doves, both ringed and Eurasian, in flocks of up to a dozen or so, all around Shoshone, Tecopa, and Pahrump, NV, as well as in the Needles area, all this year. I've never seen them before around here, although I'm sure they're not unknown. On the other hand, the usual flocks of common grackles and cowbirds haven't been around. Can anyone explain this shift in bird populations? Climate change? Global warming? By the way, I hope you won't delete this post - Shoshone IS in Inyo County, even if it's largely forgotten by the powers that be.
