First I saw 2 Sabine's Gulls sitting on the water at the Lee Vining Creek delta. Then suddenly there was a third with them. Then I heard some strange call notes and a few more flew in. Then the birds on the water lifted off to join several more, and I was standing there dumbfounded as a flock of 10 Sabine's Gulls flew circles around me (I feel so privileged to use the word "flock" with Eastern Sierra Sabine's Gulls). All of them were immatures. Also at the lake today in various spots were 2 juv Sanderlings, 2 juv Baird's Sandpipers, 1 adult Bonaparte's Gull, 1 Common Loon, and a Prairie Falcon disputing some aerial issue with a Kestrel.
